This short-sleeved shirt is made from a unique, made-to-fade, 10-oz. indigo/black Japanese dobby-woven cloth and features the retro styling of the mechanic cut shirt.
Dobby weaving is a traditional technique dating back to the mid-1800s. A piece of equipment called a "dobby" is attached to the loom to manipulate the yarns during weaving, creating a thick, heavily textured fabric. Unlike all-indigo dobby cloths, this fabric is woven with an indigo, rope-dyed warp yarn and a black, sulfur-dyed weft. The fabric's three-dimensional surface exposes more edges than twill or plain weave fabrics, so you can expect high-contrast, electric blue fading that highlights the intricate, geometric texture.
